What you’ll get

  • A note when the course launches. It isn’t being sent yet. When it’s ready, we’ll email you once to say so.
  • The 8-week routine course. One short email a week that walks you through starting an evidence-based routine: choosing an active ingredient, introducing it without wrecking your skin barrier, handling dryness and irritation, and knowing when it’s time to see a clinician.
  • Recall heads-ups. A short note if a common acne product is recalled, like the 2025 benzoyl peroxide recalls.
  • New guides and tool updates, only when we have something worth your time.

The course, week by week

Here is the planned outline, in general terms. It may change as the course is written and checked. Each email is meant to be a few minutes’ read, link to the sources behind it, and end with one small thing to do that week.

  1. Week 1

    Where you’re starting

The main kinds of acne in plain English, what over-the-counter care can reasonably do, and the signs that mean you should see a clinician instead of starting on your own.

  2. Week 2

    Choosing one active ingredient

Benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, adapalene and azelaic acid: what each one does, the strengths allowed without a prescription, and how to pick one to start with.

  3. Week 3

    Starting slowly

How much to use, how often, and the simple routine around it (a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and sunscreen), so your skin can adjust.

  4. Week 4

    Dryness, irritation and “purging”

What is expected in the early weeks, what isn’t, and when to stop and get advice.

  5. Week 5

    Looking after your skin barrier

Moisturizer and sunscreen basics, and the habits (scrubbing, picking, too many products) that tend to make things worse.

  6. Week 6

    The halfway check

Why many treatments take 4 to 6 weeks before you notice a difference, and how to judge progress fairly instead of switching too soon.

  7. Week 7

    Combining ingredients safely

Which pairings are fine, which need spacing out, and how to add a second product only if you need one.

  8. Week 8

    Deciding your next step

Keep going, adjust, or move to prescription care online or in person: how to decide, and what to ask a clinician.

Why 8 weeks?

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, if an acne treatment is working you should usually notice some improvement in about 4 to 6 weeks, and clearing can take two to three months or longer. The hardest part is often sticking with a routine through the early weeks, when irritation can show up before results do. The course is paced to match that timeline. It is general education, not a treatment plan made for you, and it can’t promise that your acne will clear.

How often we’ll email

No emails yet. We’ll write when the course launches, then about once a week while you take it, plus a short note if a common acne product is recalled. Every email will have an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Your privacy

  • We only ask for your email address. We never ask about your skin or health to sign you up.
  • We record which kind of spot you signed up from (for example “article” or “quiz”) so we know which sign-up forms are useful, but never which article you were reading or anything about a quiz result.
  • Your address is stored on our own server. It isn’t sent to any email company yet, and we never share or sell it. If we move the list to an email service before sending, we’ll name that service in our privacy policy first.
  • If an email ever contains affiliate links, it will say so before the first link.
  • We never promise that anything will clear your acne.
