AcneRid is free to use. Here is exactly how we make money, and the rules we follow so it never shapes what we recommend.

The short version

Some links on AcneRid are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy a product or sign up for a service, the merchant may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and you never have to use our links.

How you’ll know

  • Every page that contains affiliate links shows a disclosure at the top of the page, before the first affiliate link.
  • Affiliate links are marked in our code as sponsored (rel="sponsored") so search engines treat them as paid links.
  • Our emails and videos disclose affiliate links in the same way.

Our rules

  • Commissions don’t decide recommendations. We decide what to recommend first, based on evidence and suitability, and only then look for a place to buy it. If the best option has no affiliate program, we still recommend it.
  • No paid placements. No company can pay to be included, ranked higher or reviewed more favorably.
  • No fake reviews or testing. We don’t publish ratings, testimonials or testing claims we can’t back up. See our editorial policy.
  • Adults only for telehealth. Our quiz never shows online prescribing services to anyone under 18, and every page that mentions them says they are for adults 18 and over. The quiz sends anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, or with severe, cystic or scarring acne to in-person care, with no paid link.
  • Health privacy. We don’t pass anything you enter in our tools to merchants or affiliate networks.

Programs we participate in

We don’t currently earn commissions from any program: links to merchants and services on our site are ordinary, untracked links. We have applied, or plan to apply, to affiliate programs with retailers such as Amazon, Dermstore, Paula's Choice, Exposed Skin Care and adult telehealth services such as Hers, Curology, Agency, Musely, Nurx. We will list programs here as they become active.

Our rates differ between programs. Where a product is sold by several retailers, we may link to one that pays us a commission, but we won’t choose a worse product or a more expensive option because of it.

Advertising

AcneRid does not currently show display advertising. If we add it in the future, we will update this page and our privacy policy first. Ads will never be targeted using anything you enter into our tools, and we won’t place advertising pixels on our health pages.
