AcneRid helps people with acne work out a sensible next step — using free tools and plain-English guides built on published dermatology guidance.
Why AcneRid exists
Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, yet good advice is surprisingly hard to find. Search results are crowded with sponsored “best of” lists, products that claim to have been “tested” with no evidence of any testing, and advice that ignores who you are — a 15-year-old, a pregnant adult and a 40-year-old with sudden breakouts need very different care.
We built AcneRid around a simple idea: the most useful thing we can do is help you choose the right path — an over-the-counter routine, prescription care for adults, or an in-person dermatologist — and then explain each option honestly.
What we publish
- Free tools — a treatment path quiz, an ingredient conflict checker and a benzoyl peroxide benzene tracker. They run in your browser and store nothing.
- Guides on treatments, ingredients, acne types and routines, each with its sources listed.

Who we are
AcneRid is a small, independent publisher. Our articles are researched and written by the AcneRid Editorial Team, and they carry that byline rather than an individual’s name. We don’t invent authors, credentials or expert quotes.
We are not a medical provider. We don’t diagnose, prescribe or sell medicine, and nothing on this site creates a doctor–patient relationship.
Medical review
We are recruiting board-certified dermatologists and dermatology physician assistants and nurse practitioners to review our guides and the logic behind our tools. When a clinician reviews a page, their name, credentials and the review date appear on it. Until then, the page clearly says “Medical review pending.” Read more in our editorial policy.
How we’re funded
AcneRid is free to use. We may earn money through affiliate links — if you buy a product or sign up for a service through certain links, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you — and, in the future, through advertising. Pages with affiliate links say so at the top, before the first link. Commissions never decide what we recommend, and no company can pay to be included or ranked. What we will never do
- Publish fake, paid or AI-generated reviews, ratings or testimonials.
- Claim to have tested a product we haven’t tested.
- Put advertising pixels on our health pages or sell your personal information.
- Ask for photos of your skin or scan your face.
- Promise that any product or service will cure or clear your acne.
- Send anyone under 18 to a paid online prescribing service.
About the name
“AcneRid” simply describes what our readers want: to be rid of acne. AcneRid is a publisher and the name of this website only. We don’t make or sell any acne product, and we are not affiliated with any medicine or skin care product sold under a similar name anywhere in the world.
